Teen hospitalized after north Madison house fire
Damage to home estimated at $100,000
MADISON, Wis. — A teenage boy was taken to the hospital after his house went up in flames on Wednesday.
Madison firefighters put out a fire at a single-family home at 1014 Monica Lane about 4 p.m. Firefighters reported seeing flames coming out of the front windows and front door when they arrived at the north Madison residence.
Four people live at the home and two were inside at the time of the fire. Authorities said a woman escaped with no injuries, but a 17-year-old boy was taken to University of Wisconsin Hospital. Authorities said he was expected to be released Tuesday evening.
Authorities said the house sustained extensive damage with estimates totaling $100,000.
The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation. The Red Cross is helping the residents with temporary housing.
