Teen arrested after bullet pierces door, missing 2 people inside home
MADISON, Wis. — A Madison teenager was arrested Wednesday night in connection with the firing of a bullet into a west Madison apartment while people were home Tuesday night, according to police.
Madison police said two people were in the apartment at about 7 p.m. in the 2300 block of Fish Hatchery Road when the bullet came through a door and ricocheted inside the home.
The shot was fired from inside a nearby apartment, according to the report.
It appeared the gunfire was the result of negligent handling of a firearm and not a targeted act of violence, police said.
Officials said they arrested 17-year-old Leroy C. Virghes Jr., of Madison, on tentative charges of second-degree reckless endangerment.
