Final preparations for golf tournament underway

Organizers are making their final preparations for the first-ever American Family Insurance Championship, a golf tournament bringing PGA golfers to Madison's University Ridge golf course."We're excited to have John Daly ... and we have many of the top players as well, from Bernhard Langer to Jay Haas," Nate Pokrass, tournament director, said.Events for the championship begin Monday and run through June 26. Organizers are expecting up to 20,000 fans at the event.The tournament is partnering with Madison, Verona, and UW police to provide security and traffic control at the event."We don't have a major interstate feeding into the golf course," Pokrass said. "Nonetheless, working with all the local law enforcement officials, we've got a great plan in place. We should be able to park everybody extremely close to the course."
