System notifies victims when restraining orders served
Notifications sent by phone or email
MADISON, Wis. — A new service offered in Dane County will give those seeking a restraining order a phone or email notification when the order is served.
The Dane County Sheriff’s Office said the Vine automated victim notification service helps protect victims who are particularly vulnerable in the time immediately after a restraining order is served. The respondent may react violently after being served, putting the petitioner at serious risk.
Dane County is one of 60 counties providing the service.
Petitioners in Dane County who are interested in receiving the notifications are encouraged to call 855-948-7648 or log on here.
