Suspicious man asks Madison children to get into black pickup truck on way to school

A suspicious man offered three middle school students a ride to school Friday morning, according to police.

The man was in a black pickup truck and contacted the children near the intersection of Huxley Street and Northwestern Avenue around 7:15 a.m., according to a report from the Madison Police Department.

The man told the students it was cold and wanted to know if he could give them a lift. The students declined and hurried off to school to tell a teacher, officials said.

The man is described as white, in his late 30s, with shorter light hair, a brown beard, no mustache and no glasses. He was wearing a green and yellow Oakland A’s brimmed baseball hat, according to the release.

The black pickup truck was newer and in good shape, had no topper and possibly had tinted windows, officials said.
