Suspected shooter in East Washington Avenue homicide arrested

A man suspected of shooting a man found in a Madison parking lot with 17 gunshot wounds was arrested last week, according to a release from Madison police.

Antonio L. Stanley, 33, of Madison, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree intentional homicide in connection with the death of Samuel J. Erving.

Johnny B. Green, was already in custody on suspicion of party to first-degree intentional homicide. He’s accused of supplying the gun that was used in the shooting.

Erving, 28, died after being shot 17 times. He was found in the parking lot of an Auto Zone on East Washington Avenue at around 4:30 a.m. Dec. 12.

Officials believe the people involved knew each other, and there is no danger to the public.
