Suspected OWI motorcyclist flown to hospital after crash, deputies say
TOWN OF WASHINGTON, Wis. — A motorcyclist suspected of drunken driving was flown to a hospital Sunday when he crashed after deputies attempted to pull him over, according a release from the Green County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies attempted to stop the motorcyclist for speeding at 12:02 a.m. as he traveled south in the N7100 block of State Highway 69 in the town of Washington. Deputies said he continued to the W4300 block of County Road C, failed to negotiate a curve and struck a guide wire to a utility pole. The motorcycle went down an embankment and struck several fences.
The driver, Eugene C. Mosconi, 40, of Warren, Illinois, was injured in the crash and flown to UW Hospital in Madison. Deputies said Mosconi was not wearing a helmet.
Mosconi was arrested on suspicion of second-offense operating while intoxicated and was cited for operating a motorcycle without endorsement, operating after revocation due to alcohol concentration, speeding, failure to stop at a stop sign and operating left of center.
