Suspected Home Depot thief injures employee, police say
Employee suffered cut to head
MADISON, Wis. — A Home Depot employee was injured when a man suspected of theft fought with employees on Thursday.
Madison police said the employees at the Verona Road store tried to stop Blake A. Asmussen, 31, who was being tracked in the store because he was recognized as someone who was suspected of stealing from the store in the past.
An employee suffered a cut to the head as Asmussen started swinging keys at the employees, according to police.
Asmussen told police he steals to support a heroin habit. Police said he was trying to steal drill bits.
He was arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct, possession of drug paraphernalia, retail theft and on a probation violation.
