Officials provided surveillance photos of an armed robbery that took place at a Westport bar over the weekend.

A robber with a blue cloth over his head robbed a tavern at gunpoint Sunday morning, Dane County sheriff’s deputies said. The three photos released Thursday afternoon show the robber with his face covered wearing gloves.

The Dane County Sheriff’s Office said the photos do not necessarily depict the actual colors of the suspect’s clothing.

Around 7 a.m. Sunday Dane County sheriff’s deputies, along with police officers from Waunakee and Madison, responded to reports of an armed robbery at Willows Tavern at 5485 Willow Road, according to a release.

The robber entered the tavern through the unlocked front door, pointed a black handgun at an employee and demanded he open the cash registers, police said.

The robber took cash from the tavern and fled on foot toward the east, according to the release.

The robber is described as a man in his 20s or early 30s, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall with a slender build and brown hair. He was wearing a blue cloth over his face, a dark-colored plain hooded sweatshirt and dark jeans. He also had a dark backpack.

Officials ask anyone with information on the incident to call 608-284-6900.
