Sun Prairie’s Evans says MSU is best for him
Had verbally committed to Wisconsin
SUN PRAIRIE — Sun Prairie defensive lineman Craig Evans says he has nothing against Wisconsin head coach Gary Andersen or the Badgers, he just thinks Michigan State is the best fit for him.
Wednesday night, Evans and 10 other Sun Prairie football players who will play in college next year were recognized at the Performing Arts Center at Sun Prairie High School.
Evans, who had verbally committed to play football at Wisconsin when Bret Bielema was head coach, changed his commitment just two days before signing day last week and is now headed to Michigan State.
“You’ve got to talk about Wisconsin and academics and all that,” Evans said. “That didn’t play any factor in none of it. Me and Coach Andersen had a mutual decision – I told him, Hey Coach, as bad as I want to go to Wisconsin, I felt I was kind of worried about pleasing others. But in the back of my mind, I always knew Michigan State is where I was supposed to be.”
Evans says he’s on track to graduate from Sun Prairie and hopes to be starting workouts at Michigan State June 15th.
