Sun Prairie teachers host car parade to share joy with students
Teachers and staff from Royal Oaks Elementary School in Sun Prairie are doing something good, and they’re bringing a little joy to their students.
They hosted a Safer-at-Home car parade for students. Teachers drove the parade route and waved to students in their driveways.
Principal James Ackley says this was a way to let students know teachers are thinking about and miss them.
“Like most elementary schools, or for that matter any schools, we’re a tight-knit community,” Ackley said. “We spend — think about it — you spend 8 hours a day with these kids and adults and all of the sudden you go down to zero in person. It’s a big adjustment.”
The Royal Oaks mascot, Rocky, was there too.
The principal says the parade route was quite long, but they wanted to make sure to reach the largest percentage of students possible.
