Sun Prairie pilot unhurt after plane slides off runway at Waukesha airport
WAUKESHA, Wis. — A 55-year-old Sun Prairie woman was unhurt after her plane slid off the runway at a Waukesha airport Friday night, the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office said.
In a news release, officials said the Waukesha Fire Department and sheriff’s deputies received a call at 6:48 p.m. of a plane that slid off the runway at Crites Field. Police found that the plane, a 1979 Cessna 340 twin propeller plane, had suffered substantial damage on the left side.
The pilot, who was the only person in the plane at the time, was not hurt, the release said.
The incident is believed to have been caused by icy weather conditions, officials said.
The FAA and sheriff’s office are investigating the incident, the release said.
