Bank briefly evacuated as a result of gas leak in Sun Prairie
SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. — Sun Prairie first responders responded to a gas leak on the city’s west side Thursday morning.
Dane County dispatchers said crews were sent to the area of Windsor St. and N. Grand Ave. around 7:45 a.m. for a report of an unmarked commercial gas line being struck.
Crews with We Energies are expected to have the line fixed by late Thursday morning. A spokesman for the company said a construction crew hit a line, but he was not sure what type of work they were doing. According to Sun Prairie fire officials, contractors were drilling to install fiber service in the area.
A bank in the area was evacuated briefly after crews measured high gas levels in the bank’s lobby, but employees have since been allowed back inside the building.
There are no reports of injuries or damage at this time.
