Sun Prairie employee on leave during investigation
DOJ leads public integrity investigation into IT employee
SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. — A Sun Prairie employee is on administrative leave during an investigation involving the city and the state Justice Department.
A statement from the city says the DOJ’s Division of Criminal Investigation was asked in September to lead a public integrity investigation in Sun Prairie.
Mayor Jonathan Freund confirmed to News 3 the employee who is the subject of the investigation is in the information technology department. He said the city was able to maintain services to residents.
Freund said in a release that the city started working with a highly specialized computer vendor several weeks ago to ensure any impact to the citizens of Sun Prairie would be minimized.
“I am happy to report that we were able to maintain critical communication and IT infrastructure throughout this situation for our public safety and dispatch services, which was our highest priority,” Freund said in the release.
City officials said the investigation is open and active, but they are not confirming the identity of the person under investigation.
