Sun Prairie apartment fire displaces residents

The Sun Prairie Fire Department said a fire at an apartment complex late Wednesday evening has displaced all the residents of the 16-unit building.

Fire offiicals said the fire started just before 10:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of West Klubertanz Avenue.

According to the fire department, firefighters saw heavy black smoke coming from the basement when they arrived.

The fire was contained to one unit, but smoke caused damage throughout the apartment complex, according to the Fire Department.

Fire officials said the cause of the blaze was electrical in nature. Officials said damage is estimated to be $125,000. No one was injured in the fire.

All 16 residents are expected to return to their apartments on Thursday.
