Several businesses were hit by smash-and-grab burglars Monday night into early Tuesday morning, Madison police said.

The burglaries took place primarily in the Odana Road corridor, according to a release.

Police first responded to a burglar alarm coming from the Company Store at 7404 Mineral Point Road around 2:18 a.m.

A second security alarm came in about 20 minutes later at the Pink Poodle at 6017 Odana Road, police said.

By early Tuesday morning, five other businesses, Weaver Auto Parts, Four Star Beauty Supply, Pegasus Games, Creative Expressions and Happily Ever After, had reported similar crimes, according to the release.

Police said the cases usually involve someone using a projectile to break the glass of a front door, and once they are inside they target cash registers.
