Stricker makes move at PGA Championship

For all the birdies he made Saturday — five in total during his abbreviated round — it was a wild par by Rory McIlroy on hole No. 3 that had everyone at the PGA Championship talking.

McIlroy’s tee shot became lodged in a thick tree branch not far from the green, and after a brief and fruitless search for the ball, he was informed by someone from the TV crew that it was actually sitting just above him.

Instead of having to tee off again because of a lost ball, McIlroy took a drop and a one-stroke penalty — and got up and down for par.

McIlroy is at 6-under par through nine holes in the rain-delayed third round, tied for the lead with Vijay Singh.

Madison’s Steve Stricker shoots a 5 under 67 and is 4 shots off the lead. He is two under after three rounds.
