Stoughton police stop stolen car, arrest teen

Stoughton police helped the Dane County Sheriff’s Office arrest a teen driving a stolen car.

According to the Stoughton Police Department, the Sheriff’s Office radioed for help to stop a stolen car around 10:19 p.m. on Monday. They were chasing the car going southbound on Highway 51 from McFarland.

Stoughton police set up tire deflation devices, known as “stop sticks,” on the highway at Rutland-Dunn Townline Road. The car hit the sticks, causing the tires to deflate and eventually, the car came to a stop near Hoel Avenue.

Police said a 15-year-old Madison girl then got out of the car and ran. Stoughton police were able to arrest her and turn her over to Dane County deputies.

The investigation is still ongoing.
