Storms causes large tree to fall, take down power lines in Shorewood Hills Neighborhood
MADISON, Wis. — A large tree fell on power lines along Sweetbriar Road after Thursday’s late-night storms.
According to a release, a string of five consecutive power poles in the Shorewood Hills neighborhood were affected.
Engine Co. 9 found two poles snapped, a transformer on the ground and power lines dangling when firefighters arrived at the scene at 10:30 p.m., the release said
While the power lines were down, firefighters went from door to door to advise residents to stay inside, the release said. The road was closed in all directions.
Firefighters stayed at the scene until the Madison Police Department and Madison Gas and Electric arrived at 11:50 p.m.
