Stolen vehicle crashed into a light pole, causing it to collapse; vehicle found empty
MADISON, Wis. — Madison police responded to an incident at 4:30 a.m. Friday and found a stolen 2016 Chrysler 200 had crashed into a light pole near the intersection of North Shore Drive and West Brittingham Place.
According to a release, a resident on Proudfit Street called for police after hearing screeching tires and a crash. Officers found the car empty with air bags deployed. The the light pole was down.
The Chrysler was reported stolen Monday morning. Police said the victims, who live on Stonebridge Drive, said a burglar got into an unlocked van in their driveway. The van had a garage door opener and the release said the burglar entered their home. The victims did not wake up and discovered the break-in while getting ready for work.
