Steven D. Stanton
Steven D. Stanton, 59, of Benton, died after a courageous battle with lung cancer, on Friday, October 19, 2012 at Finley Hospital in Dubuque, Iowa.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at the Melby-Bendorf Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville. Rev. Brenda Whitford will officiate. Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Cuba City. Friends may call from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday at the Melby-Bendorf Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, or from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday. Steve was born on May 11, 1953 in Lancaster, WI, the son of Keith and Shirley (Bey) Stanton. Steve grew up on a farm by Cornelia. He worked at John Deere in Dubuque and Moline from 1972-2004, to enjoy retirement. Steve loved to work in the garden and do landscaping. He also enjoyed movies, music, and collecting memorabilia.
Steve is survived by three children; Stephanie Stanton and her two daughters, Chloe and Qynne of Dubuque; Amber Stanton of Austin, TX; Jason Stanton of Arvada, CO; his mother, Shirley Stanton of Platteville; sister, Connie (Randy) Stephens of Platteville; niece, Kandice Stephens of Platteville; great-nephew, Blake Stephens of Platteville; and special friend, Sue Meckley and her family, Chad (Davina) Meckley; Melanie (Dennis) Gerke; Michelle (Don) Griffith; Miranda (Jeret) Baker; Kevin (Doris) Meckley; and 16 of her grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Keith; and grandparents, Vera and Charles Schuh and Gen and Frank Stanton.
