Steven Biko Radford

Steven Biko Radford

Madison-Steven Biko Radford was born on August 23, 1982 in Philadelphia, PA to Billy and Greta Owens. He was raised by his parents, Robert and Kelly Radford, with his three siblings, as they lived in Folsom, PA, Tacoma, WA, Monterey, CA, and Erie, PA. He passed away peacefully in his bed at home in Madison, WI

Steven was an excellent companion for a job, walk or visit. He welcomed all people with an open heart and mind. Steven was enthusiastic, fun and hard working. He earned the Boy Scout Eagle Award and graduated from high school in 2001 while living in Acme, PA. He was excited about being outdoors, helping others, and pursuing his career in culinary services. He looked forward to Grilling For Peace and the Polar Plunge each of his fifteen years in Madison, WI. Steven was enthusiastically opposed to unfairness and oppression, taking provocative and thoughtful positions. Steven worked hard and was reliable. There were some times in his past when addictions controlled his life and he struggled to overcome them, working with family, counselors and groups. Alcohol robbed him of stability and maybe his life, but not because he and his friends at AA didn’t work at overcoming it. Steve will be remembered for his smile and the energy he shared with the world.

Steven is survived by his parents, his brother Curtis (Maureen), his brother Stephen (Tuny and family), and his sister Kassie (Joshua). He is also survived by his grandmother, Colleen (Tom), and many loving and dear aunts, uncles and cousins in his extended family. Additionally, he is survived by his biological sister, Brenda (Jim).

Steven will be laid to rest at the Natural Path Sanctuary on Sunday at 11am. A gathering will follow at his parents’ home in Verona at 1pm. There will be much food and love to share.

The family requests that donations be made in memoriam to the Fitchburg Serenity Club, 6048 McKee Road, Fitchburg, WI. To view and sign this guestbook, please visit:
