Stephanie (Niedermaier) McKeller
Stephanie (Niedermaier) McKeller, age 85, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 17, 2014, in the Oregon Manor Nursing Home, Oregon, Wis. Stephanie was born on January 21, 1929, in Linz, Austria, the daughter of Maria (Doblmann) and Matthias Niedermaier. She grew up surrounded by the beauty of her beloved Austrian homeland until after WWII. Stephanie was a war bride who came to the U.S. in 1947 to marry a GI who had been stationed in the occupation forces of Austria. Stephanie was dedicated to St Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, Pa. where she was the Faculty Secretary of History and Politics for over 32 years. She also served for many years as an elected official with the Delaware County Department of Voter Registration. A long-time resident of Swarthmore, Pa., Stephanie had resided in a retirement home near her son in Oregon, Wis. for the last few years. In the U.S.
She is survived by four of her children, John M. McKeller, Maria A. Black, Joseph A. McKeller, Jr. and Michelle Rene McAlea; six of her grandchildren, Jennifer (McKeller) Welshons, Briannna McKeller, Heather Lynn McAlea, and Megan, Sarah and Mark McKeller; and her great-granddaughter, Shelby Welshons. In Gmunden, Austria she is survived by her sister, Leopoldine Lugmair; and brother, Ernst Weiss.
She was preceded in death by her parents; former husbands, George Townley and Joseph A. McKeller; daughter, Joyce Lynn McKeller and grandson William Douglas Black II.
Memorial Services will be held at CHAPEL OF ST.JOSEPH, ST. JOSEPH’S UNIVERSITY, 5600 City Ave., Philadelphia, Pa. 19131, at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 30, 2014. Interment will follow at the Mausoleum at Fernwood Cemetery, Fernwood Cemetery and Mausoleum, 6501 Baltimore Ave., Lansdowne, Pa., 19050.
