Morning News Producer - WISC-TV is actively searching for a News Producer to help lead our 2.5 hour morning news.  This overnight position will work with another producer to help build a dynamic, energetic, and engaging morning show.  This person will understand the need to produce news as it happens. Our show places a priority on new content and offering viewers live pictures from around the world.  You’ll help direct overnight crews to breaking news and work closely with our technical crew on presentation.

Specific duties include working closely with the Executive Producer to determine content needs and story ideas on a daily and long-term basis.  The successful candidate will write clearly for multiple platforms, including our website. Social media proficiency is required. 

Our ideal candidate is a creative thinker with excellent news judgement who can deliver relevant and interesting stories every day and who can motivate our staff and produce compelling television.  Candidates must be willing to work the unique schedule of 11:00pm – 7:00am.  We prefer applicants with at least one year of producing experience and a college degree.  A writing test is required.

Weekend Morning Anchor/Reporter - WISC-TV/Channel3000.com, Southern Wisconsin’s number one station and digital source for news, is looking for the next great storyteller to join our team. The right person will anchor our weekend morning newscast and report three days a week.  We’re looking for someone passionate about news who can find the most unique, relevant and meaningful stories to share with our viewers. Creativity, flexibility, and an interest in digital and social media is a must.  Here are a few things you’d be signing up for:

  • Anchoring 2 one-hour newscasts on Saturday and a 90-minute newscast on Sunday.
  • Turning enterprise stories on a daily basis, including developing ideas, shooting, writing and editing. Our ideal candidate will be both skilled at working with a photographer and as a MMJ depending on the assignment.
  • Delivering engaging live reports, especially in breaking news situations.
  • Innovating and experimenting with the latest technology in digital.  We’d love someone willing to share their ideas on how we can continue to be a leader in digital and social.
  • Building sources within our community, and showing you know how to listen to what our viewers are interested in.

  • An open mind and a passion for great journalism
  • Ability to swing tight deadlines
  • A valid driver’s license and good driving record
  • BA/BS in journalism or related field
  • Experience in both hard news and feature reporting—political experience also beneficial
  • 1-2 years of news reporting, prior anchoring experience a plus

Floor Crew:  

WKBT News 8 is hiring part-time Floor Crew Members for our Morning (4:30 a.m. – 8:00 a.m.) and Noon (11:15 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.) newscasts. We will train the right applicants to run teleprompter, studio cameras, and generate on-air graphics. Hours per week range from 20-30. This a great entry-level opportunity for someone who is looking to start their career in broadcasting or is willing to learn multiple skills required to work behind the scenes in a fast-paced environment.
