Meteorologist - WISC-TV/Channel3000.com, Southern Wisconsin’s number one station and digital source for news, is looking for a talented meteorologist who can convey weather and news information effectively. Creativity, flexibility and an interest in digital and social media is a must as is a meteorology degree and forecasting experience. 

Here are a few things you’d be signing up for:

  • Prepare and deliver urgent, compelling weather forecasts and presentations that connect across all platforms.
  • Aggressively handle severe weather coverage with a priority on clarity and urgency.
  • Delivering engaging live reports, especially in breaking news situations.
  • Innovating and experimenting with the latest technology in digital.  We’d love someone willing to share their ideas on how we can continue to be a leader in digital and social.
  •  Building sources within our community and showing you know how to listen to what our viewers are interested in.

  • Turning enterprise stories on a daily basis, including developing ideas, shooting, writing and editing. Our ideal candidate will be both skilled at working with a photographer and as a MMJ depending on the assignment.
  • Delivering engaging live reports, especially in breaking news situations.

--Actively engage with our producer and anchor teams to lead coverage, develop engaging content and set the direction for our forward-looking show.

--Work with multi-media reporters and photographers to select the most meaningful stories for our viewers—including story development, live coverage, and daily assignment of field crews.

--Collaborate with producers on daily rundowns, story placement, and the most creative and engaging presentation of content.

--Create content for our web and digital platforms that will help kick-start an aggressive daily social strategy and help us meet online, social and mobile goals

--Inspire and innovate daily—and know that your attitude and open-mindedness is part of a team that wants to listen and engage with our audience.

Our ideal candidate will have:

--Experience managing teams or projects in a newsroom environment

--An open mind, attention to detail and a passion for getting the facts right

--Producing experience on a TV news broadcast, as well as a proficiency with digital platforms

--BA/BS in journalism or related field

WKBT News 8 is hiring part-time Floor Crew Members for our Morning (4:30 a.m. – 8:00 a.m.) and Noon (11:15 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.) newscasts. We will train the right applicants to run teleprompter, studio cameras, and generate on-air graphics. Hours per week range from 20-30. This a great entry-level opportunity for someone who is looking to start their career in broadcasting or is willing to learn multiple skills required to work behind the scenes in a fast-paced environment.
