State Rep. Nygren says he may seek seat held by Ribble
Ribble not running for re-election
MADISON, Wis. — Rep. John Nygren says he is considering a run for U.S. Rep. Reid Ribble’s seat this year in Wisconsin’s 8th District.
Ribble, a three-term Republican from Sherwood, announced Saturday he won’t seek re-election this year because he wants to spend more time with his family. He represents a northeastern portion of the state surrounding Green Bay.
Nygren said Monday he is going to take a few days to talk with family, examining the expectations of the job and the impact of travel. He says he will likely decide within the next week to 10 days.
Nygren is a Republican from Marinette and assumed office in 2007. He is co-chair of the Joint Finance Committee.
