State Rep. Krusick loses in Democratic primary
Dan Riemer's primary victory gives him Krusick's seat outright
MADISON, Wis. — State Rep. Peggy Krusick has lost her seat in a Democratic primary.
Unofficial results from Tuesday’s election show challenger Dan Riemer with 71 percent of the vote and Krusick with 29 percent with 30 of 36 precincts reporting.
Krusick has held the seat in Milwaukee’s 7th Assembly District since the early 1980s. Last year she angered her fellow Democrats when proposed removing race as a factor in awarding higher education grants. Rep. Leon Young, another Milwaukee Democrat, asked her the next day to stay out of Democrats’ strategy meetings.
Dan Riemer is the son of David Riemer, who served as former Democratic Gov. Jim Doyle’s budget director. His primary victory gives him Krusick’s seat outright. No Republicans have filed to run for it in November’s general election.
