St. Clare Hospital restricts visitors due to influenza outbreak
Restrictions geared toward protecting at-risk patients
MADISON, Wis. — Due to high rate of influenza cases in the Baraboo, Wisconsin Dells and Lake Delton area, St. Clare Hospital is implementing visitor restrictions, according to a release.
The hospital will not allow visitors under the age of 14 into three patient care areas, officials said.
St. Clare Hospital Vice President of Patient Care Services Ginger Selle said the restriction has been structured around the most at-risk population – children under the age of 14 who due to many outside activities, and sometimes limited hygiene habits, are generally at higher risk of transmitting the influenza virus.
The restrictions are for St. Clare Hospital’s medical surgical wings, emergency department and the childbirth center, according to the release.
“Any person, regardless of age, who has a regularly scheduled patient appointment or who is seeking care will continue to be seen at the hospital and clinics,” Selle said in the release.
