Trent Frederic leaves Wisconsin hockey

MADISON - Trent Frederic is leaving the Wisconsin Badgers men's hockey program after his sophomore season, signing a contract with the NHL's Boston Bruins Tuesday.

Frederic, Boston's first round pick in the 2016 NHL draft,  was the Badger's leading scorer last season with 17 goals and 32 points.

He was the Big Ten's Freshman of the Year in the 2016-17 season. 

Frederic signed a three-year entry level contract  and will finish this season in the American Hockey League with the Providence Bruins.
