Sun Prairie loses heartbreaker in overtime

Brookfield East last second shot wins game, 52-50

MADISON - Patrick Cartier's basket as time ran out gave Brookfield East a 52-50 win over Sun Prairie in a WIAA State Boys Basketball Division 1 Semifinal at the Kohl Center Friday night.

With the score tied at 50 with two seconds left in overtime, Cartier took an inbounds pass, dribbled once and his hook shot when in as the horn sounded.

Cartier led Brookfield East with 20 points.

Marlon Ruffin had 13 and Jalen Johnson 10 to lead Sun Prairie.

The Cardinals finish the season with a 25-2 record.

Brookfield East will play Oshkosh North in the Division One championship game Saturday night at 8:15 at the Kohl Center.
