Olympic heroes to speak at Sauer Foundation event

MADISON - The Coach Sauer Foundation will hold its annual fund-raising dinner Nov. 14 at Blackhawk Country Club in Madison by celebrating and honoring the 40th anniversary of the 1980 Olympic hockey team

The banquet will include keynote speakers:  Mark Johnson and John Harrington, teammates from the Miracle On Ice 1980 USA Gold Medal winners.  Mark is currently the head coach for the top-ranked University of Wisconsin women's hockey team and John is head coach for the Minnesota State women's team.

The program will also include Joe Hart, former sports editor of the Capital Times who covered the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, N.Y. The event begins with cocktails at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:30 and “the Miracle men” sharing their stories. The evening will also feature a silent auction and raffle.
