Kaminsky jersey No. 44 to be retired during ceremony at Kohl Center

MADISON, Wis. - The Badger men's basketball program will retire Frank Kaminsky's No. 44 at the Kohl Center during halftime at Thursday night’s game against Purdue.

Kaminsky's former teammates Nigel Hayes, Bronson Koenig and Sam Dekker are all expected to be a part of the festivities.

University of the Wisconsin will officially retire his No. 44, and February 15 will be officially named "Frank Kaminsky Night" in Madison, Badgers athletics officials said.

Kaminsky led the Badgers to back-to-back Final Fours in 2014 and 2015. Kaminsky, nicknamed "The Tank," was named AP Player of the Year in 2015, and he was the first player in school history to win the John Woodend Award.

He's the second player in school history with 1,000 career points, 500 rebounds, and 100 blocks.

In Wisconsin history, only Ab Nicholas's No. 8 has been retired.

The Badgers take on the Boilermakers at 6 p.m.

Kaminsky now plays wearing No. 44 for the Charlotte Hornets.
