Chryst named finalist for 2017 Paul ‘Bear' Bryant coach of the year

MADISON, Wis. - Badgers head football Coach Paul Chryst was among seven coaches named as finalists Wednesday for the 2017 Paul “Bear” Bryant Coach of the Year award, according to a release from the American Heart Association.

Chryst was nominated along with Clay Helton from the University of Southern California, Scott Frost formerly with the University of Central Florida but now with the University of Nebraska, Gus Malzahn with Auburn University, Jeff Monken with Army, Kirby Smart with the University of Georgia and Dabo Swinney with Clemson University.

The winner will be announced Jan. 18 during an awards dinner and ceremony in Houston.
