Speaker Vos shares excitement for Foxconn deal with Wisconsin

ROBIN VOS

MADISON, Wis. — Assembly Speaker Robin Vos released a statement Tuesday in response to the amended agreement between Foxconn Technology Group and the state.

Under the new contract, Foxconn will be eligible for up to $80 million in state tax incentives. Gov. Tony Evers shared details of the new contract Tuesday.

Vos approved of the agreement and expressed excitement toward the company’s continued growth in Mount Pleasant.

“Foxconn is already the largest property taxpayer in Racine County,” Vos said. “I have toured their campus and facilities and I’m excited about the incredible things they are working on.”

Vos said the amendment gives Foxconn more financial incentives compared to the original agreement, which had received criticism.

“Hopefully we can now put the politics surrounding the development behind us and focus on the partnership that continues to benefit all of Wisconsin,” Vos said.

“I am happy that Wisconsin and Foxconn were able to come to an updated agreement and glad the company continues to grow in Mount Pleasant. Foxconn is already the largest property taxpayer in Racine County. I have toured their campus and facilities and I’m excited about the incredible things they are working on.

Despite all of the liberal criticism when the initial agreement was passed, this amendment actually gives the company even more financial incentives than the original did.

Hopefully we can now put the politics surrounding the development behind us and focus on the partnership that continues to benefit all of Wisconsin.”
