Soglin Cancels Fall Ride The Drive Event
Bicyclists are getting ready for Madison?s Ride the Drive on Sunday, but Madison Mayor Paul Soglin has canceled a second event planned for this fall.
Soglin said he?s concerned the event, which closes some city streets to vehicle traffic allowing bicyclists and pedestrians to venture freely, is harmful to downtown businesses, particularly those on State Street and the Capitol Square.
The mayor said he would like to map a different course through the city for future Ride the Drive events.
Sunday?s Ride the Drive begins at 10 a.m. and runs until 3 p.m. The event is free.
