Winter weather bulletins

A large winter storm will bring snow to the area this afternoon.  Temperatures will be cold enough for the precipitation to start out as all snow.  Late Friday night into early Saturday morning there is still a chance for sleet or freezing rain to mix with the snow, mainly south of Madison.  Ice accumulations up to 0.10″ will be possible.

Mix possible overnight

Any mixed precipitation will change back to snow and diminish on Saturday afternoon.  Total snow accumulations will range from 3-6″ with the highest amounts north of Dane county.

Total snow accumulation

Strong westerly winds will develop as the snow comes to an end on Saturday.  This may cause blowing and drifting snow reducing visibility across southern Wisconsin.  Temperatures will fall to near zero by Sunday morning with wind chills from 15 to 25 degrees below zero.
