Police in Waukesha, Wisconsin, have released the crime scene photos of the 2014 Slender Man stabbing case.

The 12-year-old suspects are serving their sentences in mental hospitals, prompting the unsealing of the images, WISN reported.

Morgan Geyser and Anissa Weier, both 12 at the time of the stabbing, were sentenced in the attempted murder of 12-year-old Payton Leutner, WISN reported.

The photos documented the bloodied clothes of the suspects and the clothes the victim wore at the time of the stabbing.

The sixth-graders said they were trying to kill Leutner to please Slender Man, a fictional horror character, WISN reported. They were found not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect.

Leutner, now in ninth grade, survived 19 stab wounds, evidence of which is apparent in the photos, WISN reported.
