Sleeping driver arrested on suspicion of 5th OWI

Van spotted idling, facing wrong direction

A Mount Horeb man was arrested on suspicion of fifth offense operating while intoxicated when a Madison police officer found him asleep at the wheel Sunday.

The officer was called to the 2300 block of Brentwood Parkway at 6:26 a.m. for a report of an idling van partially on the curb and terrace and facing the wrong way.

The officer said he woke the driver, Christopher G. Fenske, 32, who said he lived nearby, but the address he provided was in Mount Horeb.

Fenske was also arrested on suspicion of operating while revoked, tampering with an ignition interlock device, and not carrying auto insurance.
