Police looking for man who stabbed deputy

CROSS PLAINS, Wis. – Officers are looking for a man who attacked a Dane County Sheriff’s Deputy with a knife Thursday night.

Crews responded to reports of a suspicious person at Festge Park west of Cross Plains just after 8 p.m.

Officials say Dane Co. Sheriff deputies were investigating that at Festge County Park when the man attacked an officer with a knife. The Deputy responded with their weapon.

The Deputy is recovering at the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators say the man ran away, and has not been found.

The suspect was described as wearing black pants, a black hoodie.

Cross Plains Fire and EMS, as well as multiple Dane Co. Sheriff’s deputies, are still on the scene.

Highway 14 was shut down in both directions between County Highway KP and South Valley Road until early Friday morning due to the investigation. It reopened early Friday morning.
