Shot fired from getaway car after man follows suspected thieves, police say

FITCHBURG, Wis. — Fitchburg police are looking for the people who fired a shot at a Sub Zero employee.

Officers were initially dispatched to the appliance company’s Basswood Drive location around 8:15 Thursday on a report of a theft, according to a release by the Fitchburg Police Department.

When officers arrived on scene, employees said they saw three men going through the parking lot looking into cars. Witnesses said the men ran back to their vehicle after setting off a car alarm.

A Sub Zero employee followed the men in his own car, when a shot was fired from the suspect vehicle, the release said.

The employee was not injured and no property was damaged.

Police found a spent shell casing at the scene, according to the release.

The suspect vehicle is described as an older, dark colored Chevy Lumina or Toyota Camry.

Officers do not believe the public is in any danger.
