Shot fired during attempted home invasion
Bullet goes through window, hits wall
MADISON, Wis. — A shot was fired during a home invasion attempt on Madison’s east side Monday night.
Madison police said there was a knock on the door of an apartment in the 4600 block of Stein Avenue at 9:15 p.m. and a man inside cracked the door open to see who was there. The man said he saw a man with a gun standing outside. He said he used his shoulder to force the door shut and yelled for someone to call 911.
As the man at the door fled he fired a round that went through an apartment window and was lodged in a wall, police said.
There were several young men, a 21-year-old woman and a child in the apartment at the time. No one was injured.
The man was described as black, 5 feet 6 inches tall with a light complexion and husky build. He was wearing a black sweatshirt and black ski mask.
Police said they believe the attempted home invasion was not random.
