MADISON, Wis. — Madison police said a shoplifter pulled out a knife on a group of Woodman’s employees early Sunday morning.

Officers were dispatched to the Woodman’s at 3817 Milwaukee Street shortly before 5 a.m., according to a release by the Madison Police Department.

Woodman’s staff followed two women out of the store after they left without paying for a cart full of groceries, the release said.

One of the women pulled out a small knife when staff asked to see a receipt, police said.

Police are hoping to identify them through surveillance photos.
