Shooting in Beloit early Saturday leaves one injured
Police still looking for suspect
BELOIT, Wis. — Beloit police are investigating a shooting that happened outside a bar early Saturday morning.
Police were called to the Turtle Tap around 1 a.m. for evidence of a shooting discovered in the parking lot. A few minutes later, the 911 center received a call that there was a gunshot wound victim near Nelson and Keeler Avenues, according to police.
Police said when they arrived, officers found an abandoned car which had several bullet holes in it, and blood inside the vehicle indicating that someone had been injured.
Police said officers followed a blood trail from the car to a home in the 1200 block of Keeler Avenue. No one was there at the time but there was evidence indicating the victim had been there.
About an hour later, a hospital in Rockford, Ill. said they were treating a patient for gunshot wounds who had been shot in Beloit, according to police. The victim said he had been shot while in a vehicle in the Turtle Tap parking lot and fled the scene. The victim sustained non-life threatening wounds and was admitted to the hospital in good condition.
Police don’t have anyone in custody in connection with the case. Anyone with information about this shooting is asked to call the Beloit Police Department at 364-6801.
