Shirley J. Quandt
Shirley J. (Clair) Quandt, age 78, of Elkhorn, died on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, at Seasons Hospice, Waukesha. She was born in Beloit on Sept. 21, 1935, the daughter of Clawson R. and Violet J. (Riese) Clair. She lived in the Beloit area for 34 years, and 25 years on a farm west of Beloit in Newark Township, where she enjoyed her time on the farm with her own horse. Shirley graduated from Orfordville High School in 1953. She married Herbert Quandt in Ft. Atkinson on Oct. 30, 1971. He preceded her in death on July 19, 1982. She was a beautician for 2 years, and then had been employed by Beloit State Bank for 15 years, Bank of Fort Atkinson for 2 years, then at Johnson Hill Press in Fort Atkinson for 23 years. Shirley enjoyed doing ceramics, cooking, jigsaw puzzles, family get-together’s, playing cards, BINGO and trips to the casino. After her husband passed away, she moved to Janesville where she lived for 28 years before moving to Elkhorn in 2010.
Shirley is survived by her cousins: Robert (Shirley) Riese of Whitewater, William (Donna) Riese of Elkhorn, Donald Riese of Mesa, AZ, Linda (John) Cory of Bayfield, WI, Diana Riese of Elkhorn, Carl (Pam) Clair of Beloit and Beverly Clair Pahlas of Beloit. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Carol Ann Clair; grandparents, Carl and Clara Clair and Carl and Effie Riese; aunts and uncles; and her special friend, Kenneth Peck.
A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, at SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY with Rev. Bond Haldeman officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Friday from 10:30 to 12:00 noon at SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME.
