Sheriff’s officials warn drivers of heavy traffic this week
Deer hunters, Black Friday shoppers add to volume Friday
MADISON, Wis. — Officials with the Dane County Sheriff’s Office released a statement asking drivers to be cautious and plan for heavy traffic volume this week.
Sheriff’s deputies will be providing additional traffic enforcement throughout the holiday week, according to a release. The extra enforcement will be funded by overtime grants from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
The extra enforcement started Saturday with five additional deputies patrolling Dane County roads from 6 p.m. to 3 a.m., officials said. Similar staffing will be used on Nov. 26 and 29.
Wednesday is typically the business travel day, but Friday and Sunday can also be challenging with the deer hunters and Black Friday shoppers hitting the roads in the morning, according to the release.
