Sheriff’s deputy, K-9 to retire Friday
MADISON, Wis. — A Dane County Sheriff’s deputy and his K-9 partner will retire from the department this week, according to a news release.
Deputy Jay O’Neil started working with the K-9 team in 1996 alongside K-9 partner Dino. In 2006 Dino was replaced by Thor, and in 2010 Hunter joined the department.
O’Neil and Hunter have helped other law enforcement agencies, caught suspects and found illegal drugs, including in 2015 when they a suitcase with more than $38,000 worth of drugs and a loaded gun inside, the department said.
The pair’s last day with the department will be Friday.
