Crash kills three students, injures woman
TOWN OF CLARNO, Wis. — A third teenager has died in the hospital after a car crash that killed two other teens and injured a woman south of Monroe Friday, according to the Green County Sheriff’s Office.
Green County Sheriff’s Office officials said Gage Noble, 16, was driving the car and pronounced dead at the scene. Passengers Anya Teasdale, 16, and Joseph Wyss, 15 both died later at the hospital. Police said the driver of the truck, Jennifer Hopkins, 35, remains in serious condition at the hospital.
A makeshift memorial was set up at the crash site, located at the intersection of Clarno and Melvin roads in the town of Clarno. Numerous classmates and community members laid candles and flowers at the site throughout the day Saturday.
Deputies said a car was traveling west on Melvin Road when it failed to stop at the intersection and collided with a truck. The Green County Sheriff’s Office said three Monroe High School students were in a sedan when the one driving failed to stop at a stop sign and hit a northbound Chevrolet Suburban driven by a 35-year-old rural Monroe woman.
Deputies said speed was a factor in the crash.
A GoFundMe page has been created to raise money for the victims’ families. As of Sunday morning, nearly $5,000 had been raised.
