A man was arrested after police executed a search warrant and found property that is believed to have been stolen as well as methamphetamine waste, according to a release from the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office.

Larry Chad Smith, 33, of Reedsburg, was incarcerated in the Sauk County Jail on multiple charges of burglary and theft, officials said.

A 6-year-old child was also living in the home at 295 Modern Ave. in Reedsburg. The Sauk County Department of Human Services was contacted, according to the release.

Smith is suspected of committing burglaries and thefts, with the total value of stolen property exceeding $40,000. He will also face charges related to the methamphetamine waste and other drug violations, officials said.

The charges are expected to be filed in the coming weeks; the investigation is ongoing with additional arrests expected, according to the release.

“Most drug addicts do not have money from legitimate sources to purchase these drugs,” Sauk County Sheriff Chip Meister said in the release. “Because of this, society is put at even greater risk from drug addicts committing Burglaries and potentially violent home invasions to obtain money illegally to feed their habit.”

Meister said drugs have a larger impact in the community than most people realize.
