Speed and alcohol appear to be factors in a crash that killed a motorcyclist in Green County Saturday night, according to a release.

Green County emergency crews responded to a report of a motorcycle crash on County Road M at Hale Road in the town of Cadiz around 11:40 p.m.

The motorcyclist, Ronnie A. Vance, 52, of Warren, Illinois, was going south and did not make it around a curve in the road, investigators said. The motorcycle left the road on the south side, entered the ditch and the driver was ejected.

Vance was not wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the release.

Officials said this is Green County’s third traffic fatality this year.
