Sheriff: Richland Center woman admits to killing man whose body was found in rural Sauk County

A Richland Center woman admitted to killing a man whose body was found in a rural Sauk County area last month, law enforcement officials said.

The Sauk County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday that 35-year-old Amber M. Lundgren was arrested Wednesday in connection with the death of 37-year-old Christopher Lytle on Sept. 21.

Lytle, of Westfield, was found dead in an isolated area in Fairfield off Levee Road on Sept. 22. Authorities did not mention how he died, but the coroner ruled the death a homicide after an autopsy.

According to the report, detectives made contact with Lundgren in the morning hours Wednesday, during which they confronted her with evidence obtained throughout the investigation. Lundgren then admitted to causing the death of Lytle at the location where his body was found.

Detectives found that there was a prior relationship between Lytle and Lundgren and that the incident was not a random act.

Sheriff Chip Meister said specific details of the crime and statements Lundgren made were withheld Thursday “in order for the evidence to be presented through the orderly procedures of the court so as not to circumvent the pre-trial discovery process so that the Defendant receives a fair trial.”

Meister said the investigation is ongoing. A probable cause statement is being prepared and will be forwarded to the Sauk County District Attorney’s Office. A date for Lundgren’s bail appearance had not ben set as of Thursday afternoon. Lundgren remains in custody at the Sauk County Jail awaiting a hearing.
