Sheriff: No foul play in Castle Rock Inn fire

An official said there was no foul play suspected in a Grant County fire that destroyed a restaurant and special event venue Tuesday.

Fire broke out around noon Tuesday at the Castle Rock Inn off Highway G in the town of Castle Rock. Twelve area fire departments helped fight the blaze. No one was injured but the nearly 100-year-old, 9,000-square-foot building was a total loss.

Grant County Sheriff Nate Dreckman said in a news release Friday that after three days of investigating the fire, officials determined that criminal acts were not the cause of the blaze.

In the news release, the sheriff said the investigation was concluded Friday.

The Castle Rock Inn was built in 1923.
